Emil Medicus is 94 years old and lives in Asheville, N.C. He was the publisher and editor of the Flutist magazine from 1920-1929 and the author of “Systematic Flute Instruction.” He studied flute with Weinstein, Vivian, Griffith, Wood, and Francella. He was a faculty member at Chatauqua, a member of the Cincinnati Sym., and staff editor of Jacobs’ Orchestra Monthly in Boston. He published many flute transcriptions and concertized extensively.
