The National Flute Association is seeking a proofreader to review articles for The Flutist Quarterly before publication (generally December, March, June, September). 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Checking written material for typos and mistakes related to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and word usage
• Tracking changes in a MS Word document
• Verifying correct formatting
• Checking style and language
• Fact-checking dates, claims, and other information
• Flagging any questions/issues for the Editor
• Ensuring content meets editorial guidelines

Candidates should have:

• Strong attention to detail
• Mastery of advanced grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules, and knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word (specifically how to track changes)
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Research and fact-checking skills
  

Rate: $30/hr. Generally around 20 articles per issue of varying lengths, 15–20 hours per issue.
