It was founded to encourage a higher standard of artistic excellence for the flute, its performers, and its literature. Alexa Still, Maxence Larrieu, Sharon Bezaly, and Ian Clarke are among guests artists who will appear at the Seventh Slovenian Flute Festival May 24-25 in Zagorje ob Savi, Slovenia. AUDIMozart! International Wind Competition for the performance of the Mozart’s concertos for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and orchestra will take place in Rovereto, Italy, May 9–24. NFA member Beth Chandler will perform at the Kennedy Center Family Theatre May 11. NFA member Molly Barth has accepted a new position as assistant professor of flute at the University of Oregon. She beings in September 2008. Applications to the 2009 Kobe International Flute Competition for young flutists must be submitted by or before July 15, 2008. |
