Any changes made to convention programming after the publication of the 2022 program book will be listed below.

Wednesday

  • 5:00 p.m. — Young Artist Competition Quarterfinals — Yidi Song and You Yang will no longer perform.

Thursday

  • 9:45 a.m. — Treasures from the NFA Library — The Beau Soir Ensemble will no longer be performing In the Blue Glen. They will perform Bacanal by Eduardo Angulo (b. 1954). Movements: Allegro guisto; Amoroso; Picaro. They will also perform The Chasing Tale by Martyn C. Adams (b. 1981). Violist Ruth Wicker will be replaced by Tsuna Sakamoto.
  • 11:30 a.m. — One for Three and Three for Four — Heather Neuenschwander is replacing Lizzy Darling.
  • 12:30 p.m. — Piccolo Artist Competition Semifinals — Yidi Song will no longer perform.
  • 1:00 p.m. — Moyse Favorites with Karl Kraber — This event does not appear in the program book but will take place in International North from 1:00–2:00 p.m. The description is as follows: The Marcel Moyse Society will present a masterclass featuring Moyse disciple and MMS Board Member Karl “Fritz” Kraber conducting a masterclass of favorite French School works for solo flute of Marcel Moyse. The class will focus on Moyse as a lyricist. Repertoire that will be performed and focused on utilizing the teaching ideals of Moyse as evoked and recalled by Mr. Kraber will include Tulou's Grand Solo #13 and Chaminade's Concertino, Op. 107.
  • 4:30 p.m. — Piccolopalooza #1 — Anke Lauwers and Peter Verhoyen will no longer perform Twelve Duos for Two Violins, Op. 49. Instead, they will perform Balada by György Sándor Ligeti, arr. Peter Verhoyen.
  • 5:00 p.m. — High School Masterclass — Sophia Zhao's performance of Image will be replaced by Sophia Wang performing La Flute de Pan by Jules Mouquet.
  • 6:00 p.m. — Exhibitors' Concert — Kathy Blocki's program is as follows:

  • 8:15 a.m. — New Music for Low Flutes — Christopher Chaffee will not be performing Five Haiku by Jonathan Bailey Holland.
  • 8:15 a.m. — New Music for Flute and Guitar — This event has been canceled.
  • 9:00 a.m. — Three Four Five Alive! — In the Fountain City Flute Quartet, Emma Shubin will replace Michael Gordon, and Emlyn Johnson will replace Ebonee Thomas.
  • 9:30 a.m. — Ensemble Festival Showcase — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Flute Choir will also perform:

  • 9:45 a.m. — Exhibitor Showcase: Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments, LLC The Sound of the Storm: Peter Verhoyen in Recital — Event added. Gemeinhardt Artist Peter Verhoyen features the Roy Seaman Storm in a recital of works for piccolo and piano, joined by his son Pieter-Jan Verhoyen on piano. One lucky attendee will win a free BLK Roy Seaman Storm piccolo! Room: PDR 2. Presenters: Peter Verhoyen and Pieter-Jan Verhoyen.
  • 9:45 a.m. — Exhibitor Showcase: Theodore Presser Company — The time of this event has been changed to 11:15 a.m.—11:45 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m. — Threads: Works Solo for Bass Flute and Electronics — This event has been canceled.
  • 12:45 p.m. — Music for Flute and Electronics by Composers of African Descent — This event has been canceled.
  • 1:30 p.m. — Remembrance and Healing Concert — Rik Noyce will no longer be performing.
  • 8:00 p.m. — Friday Night Gala — Liz Ames will replace Dianne Frazer as pianist on Eugène Bozza's Aria.

Saturday

  • 8:00 a.m. — Youth Flute Day Ensemble Festival ShowcaseDance des Mysteres should read Danse de Mystères.
  • 8:30 a.m. — Morning Sonatas — Eva Amsler's and Eliko Akahori's performance of Joseph Lauber's Sonata in una Parte, Op. 50 will no longer be a part of this concert.
  • 9:30 a.m. — Young Artist Legacy — Yong Ma will no longer be performing.
  • 9:45 a.m. — Youth Flute Day Flute Olympics: Headjoint Hurdles — This event will take place in Salon B.
  • 10:00 a.m. — Social Justice Concert — Ann DuHamel will replace Richard Steinbach on piano.
  • 10:00 a.m. — Kelly Zimba and Niles Watson in Concert — This event has been canceled.
  • 10:15 a.m. — Ensemble Festival Reskin Showcase — Coro de Flautas de Panamá will no longer be performing. The University of Akron Flute Ensemble will no longer be performing. Ensemble 126 has been added and will perform. 
  • 10:30 a.m. — Youth Flute Day Learn from a Pro — This event will take place in Salon B.
  • 11:30 a.m. — Ensemble Festival Reskin Showcase — Coro de Flautas de Panamá will no longer be performing.
  • 12:00 p.m. — Three for Three —Trio Tastenwind are no longer performing at this concert. Programmed works by Fabian Hauser will not be performed.
  • 12:15 p.m. — Youth Flute Day Flute Olympics: Tone Triathlon — This event will take place in Salon B.
  • 12:45 p.m. — Youth Flute Day Flute Olympics: Rhythmic Gymnastics — This event will take place in Salon B.
  • 12:45 p.m. — Flute Ensemble Festival, Reskin Theatre — Flute Street will no longer be performing.
  • 12:00 p.m. — Three for Three — This event has been retitled "Meet the Composer: James Stephenson". Its new description is as follows: "Chicago composer James Stephenson will discuss his works along with the NFA premiere of his Trio Sonata for Flute, Trumpet, and Piano." This will not include a world premiere.
  • 1:00 p.m. — 50 Years of NFA Commissions — Leanna Keith will no longer be performing Can I have it without begging by Eve Beglarian.
  • 1:15 p.m. — Youth Flute Day Alexa Still's Neighborhood — This event will take place in Salon B.
  • 2:30 p.m. — Piccolopalooza #2 — Pieter-Jan Verhoyen will replace Chee Hang See as pianist on Seascapes.
  • 2:30 p.m — Ensemble Festival Open Clinic — Coro de Flautas de Panamá will no longer be participating.
  • 3:00 p.m. — Youth Flute Day Flute Olympics — The subtitle for this event is "Diving into Scales."
  • 4:30 p.m. — Youth Flute Day Flute Olympics — The subtitle for this event is "Sightreading Party."
  • 5:15 p.m. — Exhibitor Showcase: Kingma Flutes — The time of this event has been changed to 12:00 p.m.–12:30 p.m.
  • 5:30 p.m. — Youth Flute Day: Windy City Flash Mob — The flash mob will take place in the Normandie Lounge.
  • 6:30 p.m. — Pre-Gala Lobby Concert — The concert will take place in Grainger Ballroom, Symphony Center, 2nd floor, and not the Symphony Center lobby.

Sunday

  • 8:15 a.m. — 21st-Century Teacher — This event has been canceled.
  • 9:00 a.m. — Piccolopalooza #3 — The performance of Adagio — Toccata will be replaced by a performance of Lachrymose by Derek Charke (b. 1974) by Jona Venturi, piccolo.
  • 4:00 p.m. — Closing Concert — Dianne Frazer will no longer play piano on the Bach Air.
